More than singing is a series of one and two-day music workshops run by Rose Bellingham, Jonathan Cohen and Peter Osborn in a beautiful setting close to London. The emphasis throughout is on the enjoyment of singing, and every course provides the opportunity for vocal coaching and performance, both solo and in groups.
The repertoire grows with every workshop, and has included Handel’s Lascia Ch'io Pianga, (a special arrangement for the course by Jonathan), a simple but beautiful version of Scarborough Fair Canticle, the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Verdi’s Nabucco, Bob Dylan's powerful anthem Forever Young, the Quintet from West Side Story, Irving Berlin's Putting on the Ritz, Orlando Gibbons’ haunting The Silver Swan, The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, Oklahoma!, the fabulous finale Make Our Garden Grow from Candide by Leonard Bernstein and many more.
Over the last four years we have staged sell-out concerts at the beautiful White House in Ealing, and the Richmond Adult College Theatre raising money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and the ground-breaking bereavement charity The Loss Foundation. Some of our participating singers have gone on to give performances of their own, including classical concerts by newly formed quintet Amici Cantabile. Others have joined opera training courses run by Morley Opera and Associated Studios. Next year 2018 we will be running opera performance days, recital workshops and performances as well as our workshop weekends. Dates up soon.
Our main activity always lies in singing great music with lovely people in a beautiful environment! You don't have to be an accomplished singer to enjoy our Singing And Wellbeing weekends to the full. Workshops are inexpensive and a lot of fun. Find out more . . .
